Health and Fitness: Poor Man’s Massage

Everyone enjoys a good massage. Besides being just relaxing, they provide us with numerous other health benefits, however, not all of us can afford regular massages, and for those of us that can’t, there is the foam roller. The foam roll is ‘the poor man’s massage.’ Get a foam roller and use your bodyweight to apply pressure to sore spots. Foam rolling is hard work that can even border on being painful, therefore, it is important that you learn to distinguish between a moderate level of discomfort related to working a trigger point and a discomfort that can lead to injury. One of the nice things about using the foam roller is that it can be done on a daily basis – unlimited self-massage for under $20, sounds like a deal to me! ....................
