The Romax Steel-R 3.0 has stepped up its appearance once again and now wears a Reynolds 725 Steel Frame! The Steel-R is Brodie’s R is for Road, Adventure Road OR not so Road Bike. The Romax Steel series comes in a more Road focused Steel-R and a more Gravel focused Steel-G which while The R has a road focus, but really a do anything, go anywhere, one quiver bike but with a focus on fast. The R comes equipped with 700 x 34c tires with room for fenders. Speed and comfort and an engaging race bred geometry.

The Steel-R 3.0 has a Shimano 2 x 12 GRX Super Wide gear range drivetrain. A Mechanical 2X Drivetrain that is simple and precise and covers an even full range of gearing with tight spacing to find your favourite cadence. Road Riding, Gravel Adventure or Bike Packing, find your adventure, wherever it takes you. The Romax Steel-R 3.0 is for performance seeking adventurers who love smooth fast road rides, long gravel rides or dirt track touring.

The Romax Steel-R has race bred geometry in an all-season but on an all-surfaces platform. With the Gravel Adventure GRX group-set with matched hydraulic disc brakes, you can conquer a Pacific Northwest winter, or ride an Ontario Spring Classic. How do you define a Gravel Bike ?

To ride all day, any day, anywhere. The modern gravel bike combines features coming from road bikes, mountain bikes and cyclocross bikes to create an experience that just does “more”. Versatile, Fast, Comfortable and above all, Capable. May include gravel paths, forest roads, and now with way fewer cars to deal with, more singletrack, Bikepacking and Adventure Touring. Any time, any where. This is what we call a Gravel Bike.

New Reynold 725 Tube Set !

This year we have upgraded the Romax Steel-G, with Reynolds 725 tubing for sublime ride quality and less weigh ! Reynolds 725 is a high-performance, heat-treated chrome-moly steel alloy made specifically for high-quality bicycle frames. It is widely recognized as an industry sweet spot, delivering a classic, comfortable steel ride quality while saving significant weight compared to standard non-heat-treated steels.

Reynolds 725 is about 50% over standard Reynolds 525 or basic 4130 chromoly. Infused with chromium to promote hardenability and oxidation resistance. The tubing wall thickness is variable. It remains thicker at the joints for structural integrity and thinner in the middle to drop weight without sacrificing frame rigidity or toughness.

Provides the impact robustness, compliance, and luggage-mount reliability needed for rough terrain. This works great for a Spirited Road ride or Gravel adventure riding on the Brodie Romax Steel-R 3.0 !

SHIMANO 12 Speed GRX 2X Drivetrain

Shimano GRX 2 X 12 gives huge value and superb performance. The drivetrain is designed for all day riding with exceptional shifting and braking, road ergonomics with optimized wide range gearing and unprecedented reliability.

The Steel-R 3.0 has a full Shimano GRX-820 Series drivetrain with a Clutched Adventure Rear derailleur keeps your chain secure and quiet, reducing shifting effort and chain slap. The Gravel 2x GRX crankset with 48/31T chainrings paired with an 11-36T 12-speed cassette gives you an evenly spaced full range of gearing for everything from fast gravel or road rides. 2X Set up favours road riding with closer spacing between gears for dialling in your preferred cadence. All the while giving you an even wider range of gears for high speed competitiveness and the ability to tackle the toughest climbs.

With a much better than 1:1 ratio to tackle any hill on any terrain and more than enough speed. Shimano GRX 820 shifters / brake levers are precise and powerful and have all day comfort on the hoods and offer light, precise control and stability.

The GRX Hydraulic brakes provide powerful yet controlled stopping power in any condition and any road surface.

Introducing the b-TEAM Wheel Set !

For our first Wheel Set we decided to use a Al 6082 alloy welded rims with 25mm inside width and a Start Ratchet style free hub. The Ratchet hub gives you instant engagement, super reliability and easy, maintenance free operation.

Al 6082 is the highest strength of all the 6000 series alloys, with its high concentration of Manganese controlling the grain structures, and drastically increasing the overall strength and durability

The hubs feature an Al 7075 axle and free hub body, and a ‘Start Ratchet' style free hub mechanism. Service parts are readily available

Because of all this, these wheels get a ‘b-TEAM’ designation.
